The 8th piano competition Prix AmadèO 2012 will take place in Aachen, Germany.

June 1
Deadline for application and transferring the application fee
June 5
25 competitors will be chosen and announced
July 19
Opening ceremony – on this day the competition order will be drawn
July 20
2nd round with max. 25 competitors
July 21
Semi final with max. 9 competitors
July 22
Final round with max. 5 competitors and chamber orchestra
The final will be at 7 pm at "Alter Ballsaal, Aachen". More information

Audience prize:
Concert engagements in Germany and Europe (e.g. International Festival Deiá/Spain)

The international jury of renowned musicians is led by
  • Andreas Frölich, Germany
  • Ilja Scheps, Germany / Russia

Program

1st round (recording 15-20 min.)
A prelude and fugue of the ‘Wohltemperiertes Klavier’ of J.S. Bach
+ a work of free choice

2nd round (about 15 min.)
A study of Frédéric Chopin except op. 10/3, op. 10/6, op. 10/9, op. 25/1, op. 25/2, op. 25/7
or a study of Franz Liszt from the Paganini Etüden or the Études d’exécution transcendante
or a study of Skrjabin, Rachmaninow, Debussy or Saint-Saëns
+ work of your choice

Semi final (about 50 min.)
A sonata of Ludwig van Beethoven
+ a major romantic work
+ at least one piece of your own choice

Final round (with chamber orchestra)

or W.A. Mozart Concert in A-Dur KV 414
or W.A. Mozart Concert in C-Dur KV 415
or W.A. Mozart Concert in Es-Dur KV 449

The decision of the jury is binding!
All pieces have to be played by heart and must be prepared fully. It is not allowed to repeat one of the pieces!
